American Ale

Style Family Snapshot

American Ales reflect the nature of the continent, a blend of Old World and New World. Evidence of the English colonial heritage is found in North American examples of Pale Ales and Brown Ales. Variations on these themes are Amber and Golden Ales. Then comes Yankee ingenuity and unique contributions to the beer family tree. Styles such as California Common and Cream Ale represent beer further adapting to its new home in North America. Ale is alive and well!
