Seasonal Beers: Autumn
For beer drinkers, autumn can conjure images of large bearded men in lederhosen boisterously banging mugs of foaming lager across beer hall tables while singing vigorously in heartfelt unison. Bavaria's Oktoberfest is among the most world-renowned autumn celebrations, historically an occasion for finishing the last of March-brewed beers after they've kept cool all summer in alpine caves. This season calls for amber, maltier beers, neither pale nor dark and neither light-bodied nor heavy. Alcohol content is generally one or two percent higher than that of summer beers.
