Adjunct
An adjunct is any fermentable ingredient added to beer other than malted barley.
These are usually added to enhance flavor or alcohol content but may also make the beer lighter-bodied or less expensive. Any starches that are added must be broken down to sugars by malt enzymes in the mash kettle.
Examples include sugars such as honey or Belgian Candi sugar, and starches, such as corn or rice.
