What it does :
Sparkaloid is used to clarify beers, meads, and wines.
What it is:
This is a commercial product that consists of a polysaccharide mixed in a diatomaceous earth material.
How it works:
Sparkaloid removes yeast and tannin materials from suspension. It is often used with Bentonite so that haze causing proteins are removed as well.
The product works by electrostatically attracting the yeast cells and tannin complex materials, and then dropping them from solution for easier removal.
Use 5 teaspoons per 5 gallons. Add hot solution to the beer as it is transferred to the secondary fermenter. Mix thoroughly, and allow 1-2 days to settle before bottling or kegging.
Dissolve in water and boil 15-30 minutes, until clarifier globules have dissolved. Add water as needed.
