Clearfine

What it does :

Clearfine is used to improve beer clarity.

What it is:

This is a commercial product that contains sodium citrate, animal collagen (porcine gelatin), and polysaccharides.

How it works:

Clearfine causes colloidal material such as phenols, haze-causing proteins, and tannins, to drop out of solution in the beer before bottling or kegging.

Mechanism:

This additive electrostatically attracts the proteins and astringent, bitter husk and hop tannins. These coagulate and drop to the bottom of the fermenter for easier removal.

Dosage:

Add 0.25 teaspoons per 5 gallons. Add after primary fermentation is complete or prior to bottling.

Preparation:

Dissolve 0.25 teaspoons in 2 ounces of cool water. Let stand 20 minutes before use.
