Measuring Cups

What it does :

Measuring cups typically come with both English and metric volumes indicated.

What it is:

A measuring cup is a standard, essential kitchen item that comes in plastic or glass and has gradations for measuring volumes of solids or liquids.

How it works:

This is most used at the start of a brewing session when you are gathering and measuring ingredients for your recipe. It is especially valuable for portioning liquid ingredients as opposed to dry items that can be placed on a scale.

Preparation:

Measuring cups are used in preparation for the hot side of brewing (e.g. wort preparation). Therefore, they should be cleaned before use, as you would anything used to prepare food. Boiling the wort should protect it from contamination resulting from contact with the measuring cup.
