Spigots

What it does :

Spigots make transferring beer from one fermenter to another, or from mixing bucket to a bottle, much simpler by taking advantage of gravity.

What it is:

A spigot is an open and close valve for dispensing fluids.

How it works:

These items are typically removable from the plastic bucket to permit cleaning, sanitization, and replacement if necessary. You should be careful when transferring beer via spigot during secondary fermentation and bottling to avoid causing undesired aeration. Adding flexible plastic tubing can reduce the splash from a long drop.

Preparation:

Spigots are used during the cold side of brewing (e.g. fermentation, bottling, and packaging). They come in direct contact with the beer during the critical fermentation stage. So, spigots should be sanitized before use to prevent contamination.
