Honey

What it does :

Honey can add a delicate sweet flavor and aroma to your beer. In addition, it is more highly fermentable than, say, malt extract.

What it is:

Honey is a naturally produced, sweet, thick liquid made from flower nectar by bees. It is primarily fructose and glucose. The source of the nectar determines the varietal colors and flavors of the honey.

Vital Statistics

Color (Lovibond):

Specific Gravity (SG):

Dosage:

Honey can be 5-10 percent of your fermentables. Of course, the actual amount you need depends on the style of beer that you are making. Use our brewing calculators to compute the exact amount you need to achieve your specific original gravity and color targets.

Preparation:

Add honey directly to the boiling wort.
